My nephew David has a snake...Yuck. It’s a boa constrictor.
This reminded me of a man who had a boa constrictor as part of an act. He would wrap the snake round his body and the audience sat in silence waiting till he gave the signal and the snake would unwind. This was widely known and had great drawing power. One day the man got on the stage as usual and the boa constrictor was wound round and round. The signal was given but the snake did not unwind as on previous occasions. The place was in silence as the audience waited. But the snake did not unwind. In the silence crack after crack was heard as the snake tightened around the man’s body crushing his bones like powder.
In the bible we find the snake is so often likened to sin or evil. The serpent in the garden of Eden tempted Eve to disobey God, thus sin entered the world.
So often we think we are smart enough to play with sin, but one day it will catch up with us. “The wages of sin is death.” Romans 6 v 23. Thankfully God has provided a way back to Himself for sinners. That means everyone. The bible clearly states that “ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3 v 23. He sent His Son Jesus to save us from our sins. All we have to do is ask Him to forgive our sins and invite Him into our lives to keep us and protect us from sin. “The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Well! What you waiting for? Are you happy to let the serpent crush you or will you be wise and ask God to set you free from your sin.
